Campanion (2025)

Just watched Campanion, a near-futuristic sci-fi thriller that left me speechless! Josh and Iris meet in a store. Love at first sight, pure magic. But Iris hits you with a line that shakes you to the core: “This is our first meeting. And I’m gonna kill him today.” Like S.J. Surya’s Kushi narration, the director spills the end right at the start, yet keeps you glued, wondering “But why?!” That’s the genius of this storytelling, if they can reveal the ending and still shock you, it’s a masterpiece. And trust me, Campanion delivers!
We follow Josh and Iris to a cabin in the woods, owned by Josh’s friend, where Eli, Kat, Sergei, and Pat live. From the moment they arrive, Sergei’s vibe toward Iris is off. Next day, by the lake, he tries to mess with her. Then BAM. Iris runs back, shirt soaked in blood! Just when you’re reeling, the director drops a bomb: Iris isn’t human, she’s a companion robot! Josh bought her for a purpose, but she has no clue she’s not human. Everyone else in the house knows, though. Mind. Blown.
This isn’t a jump-scare horror flick, it’s a sci-fi thriller that hits you with twist after twist, each one more shocking than the last. No gore, no cheap scares, but plenty of inhuman moments that make you question everything. The way the director shows Iris as a robot is so clever, you almost forget it’s sci-fi, it feels like a pure thriller, and I loved every second!
By the end, when Iris is set to kill Josh (how? why? no spoilers!), you’re hit with so many emotions. When the credits roll, you’re left thinking: Humans are greedy, but robots? They’ve got more humanity. This movie isn’t horror or gory, even if it has intense scenes, you don’t see them that way because the storytelling is that good.
